TRAVELLING BUNTING PROJECT
The traveling project began its story just after Sewing For Sanity Facebook page was set up.
A project for everyone who used the page was started, a piece of bunting or triangle of approx 20cm x 12cm. Using any medium but expressing your feelings or thoughts about the lockdown.
The idea was the pieces of bunting would be tied together and passed around various community spaces or galleries so everyone could view them or add to it.
The interest was amazing, with pieces from Scotland to London, Spain, and Australia, among a few.
Some were knitted, cross-stitched. Groups such as Sanagi, Grace House, and WHIST joined in. Emotional pieces, fun pieces.
The hardest part was finding galleries to showcase the bunting.
So Far: Carnival House, Sunderland. A community venue with a cafe.
Art Block, 74 Church Street, Seaham, SR7 7HF, Gallery is run on a voluntary basis by East Durham Artists Network. (edan).
BEYOND THE VEIL
Completed my bunting "Beyond the Veil" in memory of those who died during the Covid 19 epidemic, including some of my own close family and friends. The word veil is often used to define the crossroads between spirit and earth, hence those dying are known as "having gone beyond the veil".In the extraordinary times that have seen people dying without their loved ones present, and the numbers attending funerals limited, I hope it provides some comfort to those who are also bereaved."The sence of angels in the veils of dawn, forever remembered by those who mourn".
Susan, Sunderland.
Feeling adrift from the world
Time for gardening during Covid and Crochering daffodils.
During Covid it felt like being on a desert island, playing Cds, watching films, all things there never seemed time to do.
During Covid, all the hairdressers were closed. My fringe just kept growing.
This elderly lady could no longer use her hands to sew. Throughout lockdown sat in the garden and enjoyed the birdsong.
Vicky"s emotions were up and down through Covid. She joined sewing for sanity sewing sessions via zoom. It helped with feelings of isolation.
Just Let Your Soul Grow, a community garden . The flowers still need seeing to, plants keep growing. Enjoying the peaceful space while felting.
Staying strong, we can beat this pandemic .
Getting fresh air, walking alone. Counting the steps, staying fit.
